Founder & Director, BlissWorks Consulting

Thirty years in conservation. Fifteen-plus years leading teams. A calmer, more deliberate way to solve the performance problems mission-driven organizations face.

About Katie

Diagnose the challenge. Design the solution. Foster collaboration.

As an organizational consultant and instructional designer with 30 years in conservation and 15+ years leading teams, Katie helps organizations diagnose performance challenges, design effective learning solutions, and foster collaboration through facilitation and strategic planning.

Katie is a seasoned facilitator, skilled at leading meetings, retreats, and dialogues on complex issues. She helps diverse groups find common ground and shared vision. As a strategic planner, Katie created a streamlined planning process for the National Park Service’s second century of service and guided organizational planning efforts that ensured inclusive voices and clear implementation strategies.

During her career in conservation, Katie served as an interpretive park ranger, trainer, and leader with the Peace Corps (Uruguay), Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, and Everglades National Park. She served as an instructional designer at the Eppley Institute for Parks and Public Lands at Indiana University, where she created an award-winning online learning platform. Additionally, Katie supervised teams of training and organizational development specialists as the Servicewide Training Manager for Interpretation and Education at the NPS Stephen T. Mather Training Center; as the director of the Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center; and as the Deputy Chief Learning Officer for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the National Conservation Training Center.

Outside of work, Katie enjoys climbing, kayaking, hiking, biking, and skiing with her husband and two grown sons, as well as the peace of quiet moments in nature.

“Katie believes deeply in every person’s ability to contribute meaningfully — and in creating opportunities for all voices to be heard and valued.”
